DistantFan
For fans near or far

Your team.
Wherever you are.

You moved away. Your team didn't. Distant Fan finds the other fans of your team where you live now, the bar that puts your game on with the sound up, and a game-day room full of people who get it.

Free. NFL, college football, college basketball, NBA, MLB, NHL and MLS.

Never left town? It works for you too. Find a bar for the away games, or for when you just don't feel like fighting stadium traffic.

How it works

Three steps to game day

Takes about a minute. You only share a rough area, never your address.

Pick your teams

Choose up to eight across the NFL, FBS college football, NBA, major-conference college basketball, MLB, NHL and MLS. Follow the one you grew up with and the one you married into.

Set your home base

Pick your metro or use your location, which we round off to a 3-mile area before it leaves your phone.

Find your crew

See how many fans of your team live around you, where they watch, and who's heading out for the next game.

What's inside

Home turf, anywhere

Fan map

A live map of where your team's fans live, shown by area, never as exact pins. Find out you're one of 200 Packers fans in Tampa.

Watch spots

Bars and backer clubs that put your team's game on. Fans add them, and you can see how many people plan to be there for the next game.

Game-day rooms

A chat for your team nationwide, and one just for fans in your area. Plan a watch party or just yell about the refs.

Your schedule

Every team you follow in one list, in your time zone, with the TV network, so you know whether to find a bar or stay on the couch.

Privacy

We never show where you live

A fan map is only useful if people feel safe on it. Here's how that works.

Fan clubs & alumni chapters

Run a backers club?

Put your bar on the map so every fan of your team who moves to town can find you. If your club is already listed and something changed, you can fix it in a couple of taps.

FAQ

Questions fans ask

How do I find out when my team plays in my area?

Follow your team on Distant Fan. The Games tab lists every upcoming game for all the teams you follow, home and away, with the TV channel and how to watch it where you live, and a free weekly game-day email sends you the week's games and the bars near you showing them. Each team's Where to watch page also lists its next games.

Is there a fan club for my team near me?

Often, yes. Distant Fan lists official fan clubs, backers clubs and college alumni game-watch chapters, such as Bills Backers, Browns Backers and alumni watch parties, in cities across the US. Pick your team and city above; club spots are marked with the club's name and a link to its source.

How do I meet fans of my team where I live?

Follow your team and Distant Fan shows roughly how many of its fans are near you, which bar they are going to for the next game, and a chat for your team's fans in your area. You only share a rough area, never your address.

How do I find a bar that shows my team in a new city?

Pick your team and your city on Distant Fan, or open its Where to watch page for that team and city. You get the bars, official fan clubs and alumni chapters where that team's fans watch the game, each with a source and the date it was last checked, plus the team's upcoming games and TV channels. Call the bar ahead of game day to confirm your game will be on.

Will a bar show my out-of-market game?

Thursday, Sunday night and Monday night NFL games are national and show at almost any sports bar. Out-of-market Sunday NFL games usually need NFL Sunday Ticket at the bar, so ask before you go. Bars that are official fan-club or alumni watch spots are the safest bet because they host their team's games on purpose.

Is Distant Fan free?

Yes. Browsing the watch pages needs no account, and following your teams, seeing fans near you and joining game-day chat is free. Bars and fan clubs can be listed for free.

Does Distant Fan show where I live?

No. Your location is rounded to a grid square about 3 miles wide on your own device, and the exact spot is never sent or stored. Other fans see only the first name and initial you choose and your teams.

Which teams and sports does it cover?

About 360 teams across the NFL, college football, college basketball, the NBA, MLB, the NHL and MLS.

How do I get my bar or fan club listed?

Use the forms on this page to add your bar or tell us about your club. Listings are free and are never ranked by payment.
